Dear Career Development Association of Alberta Members and Supporters,

At the CDAA Annual General / Special Meeting on November 26, 2025 CDAA members voted in favour of the special resolution to pursue a merger with the Western Canada Career Development Association (WCCDA) and to dissolve the Career Development Association of Alberta (CDAA).

This is a significant and emotional moment for many of us. The CDAA has a long, meaningful history shaped by the dedication, leadership, and passion of countless practitioners across Alberta. We want to acknowledge that this decision may come with mixed feelings: pride in what we have built together, nostalgia for an organization that has supported so many, and optimism about the new opportunities this transition creates for the career development field.

At the same time, this is an exciting step forward. Joining with the WCCDA strengthens the professional community across Western Canada, amplifies our shared voice, and enhances access to professional development, networking, and sector-wide collaboration.

Membership Opportunity with the WCCDA

To support a smooth transition and ensure all practitioners have the opportunity to remain connected to a professional community, current and previous CDAA members are invited to join the Western Canada Career Development Association at no cost until February 1, 2026.

Please note:

• You must complete the WCCDA membership sign-up process yourself.
• The CDAA will not be transferring member information to the WCCDA.

• There will be no verification or validation process - if you wish to join, you are welcome to do so.

• For Certified Career Development Professionals (CCDPs):
  Membership in a professional association is not required for certification, however joining the WCCDA is strongly encouraged as it provides access to continuing education opportunities and supports ongoing professional growth and re-certification requirements.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with colleagues across the western provinces and to continue strengthening our profession together. What Comes Next
