Thank you to all those members who attended last month’s Edmonton CDAA chapter meeting and networking session held at Women Building Futures center.  We appreciated the great ideas members shared with us about the types of professional development opportunities they would like offered in the future. 

The meeting on July 15, 2010 is open to all members who wish to assist with planning and/or delivering future PD events in Edmonton. If you can spare some of your time and talent, we would love to have you help us.

PAST EVENTS

On October 28-30, 2009, the CDAA Edmonton Chapter coordinated a number of sessions on 'Motivation and Change' delivered by Roxanne Sawatzky, Stages of Change Program manager from Opportunities for Employment in Winnipeg. This organization has been working on an innovative approach for job seekers who are resistant to the idea of employment. Those that a attended the sessions were shown how the stages of change and motivational interviewing have improved attendance in employment assistance programs, expedited first time employment rates and increased six month employment retention.

Sessions on Motivation and Change were held at Alberta Employment & Immigration, Edmonton Catholic Schools, Bredin Institute and Millard Health.
